About The Om Dietitian

What the The Om Dietitian offers

The Om Dietitian offers nutritional counselling via Telehealth (phone or video) with optional online relaxation and movement sessions with an Accredited Practicing Dietitian and Yoga Teacher.

 

What makes this approach different

We choose to use a different approach called The Non Diet Approach (aligned with Health At Every Size – HAES), which may also be called mindful or intuitive eating. This is an evidenced based, weight inclusive approach.

Unlike other more restrictive and rigid dieting approaches. The Non-Diet Approach is flexible and promotes self-compassion and nonjudgmental curiosity. This approach works with your bodies innate internal hunger and satiety cues and promotes mindful eating. This will enable you to build trust to determine what and how much to eat.

 

How does it work?

We understand that there are multiple contributors which may result in distressing behaviors, thoughts, feelings around food and/or with your body.

We work alongside you (at your own pace) to provide you with the tools and strategies to improve your relationship food and/or with your body.

An initial assessment with be completed and we will collaborate with you to determine where we are heading and to ‘pave’ our way forward. We strive to be transparent with you at all stages of this high consent process.

 

Why we do what we do?

We acknowledge that we live in society highly embedded with diet culture, body dissatisfaction, weight cycling and dieting behavior leading to negative effects on our biology and psychological health creating a feeling of more body mind disconnect. With the Non Diet Approach we have another choice with demonstrated positive effects on:

  • Improved body acceptance

  • Reduced episodes of overeating
